A couple weeks I was over at Honeybear Lane sharing this fun project and I wanted to share it here today! Currently, we have been making improvements in our son’s room and making the space better suited for our little boys. If you follow along, then you know we kind of have a rustic, industrial theme going on mixed with the fun of little boys. I wanted some book shelves and some toy storage but I wanted it a bit different than just shelving so when I found some pre-made plain wood crates at Jo-Ann’s I knew they would be perfect for a fun colorful crate toy storage unit.
I simply bought 3 wooden crates from Jo-Ann’s and spray painted them in fun colors that match their bedding. I used Rustoleum Real Orange, Rustoleum Sun Yellow and Rustoleum Eden (green). I took a sander and sanded the edges a little bit on the outside since I knew the inside edge would get beat up a little bit and because I wanted it to look more rustic.
Then we loaded them up with some toys and books and called it good! I bought the red pails at Hobby Lobby and used white vinyl and my Silhouette Cameo to cut out some labels.
I found the blue storage bin at Target and it matched the blue perfect so I picked up a couple. I love having everything in their bins and having a spot for everything and I love that it is easily accessible for my 1 year old.
These are the only toys you see in their room so I love that it turned out so fun and colorful, but still organized. It adds a lot to the room and brings in a bit of fun!
